Hi
just wondering if anyone else has ever had their application "lost" by UKVI?
Well, at least that's how it appears. My wife submitted her application for spouse visa in China on July 25 to VFS in Guangzhou. Two weeks ago I called the numbers given to enquire about progress. The response was they have no record of her GWF or application. After 5 e-mails and 4 phone calls to both China and the UK (all at great expense, i.e. £80 per hour charged to my credit card) I am still not sure what is happening. Calls to the call centre (VFS in India of all places) are a total waste of time. The China side keep saying they will escalate this but still have no record of the application. The UK side say they cannot access applications for overseas applicants.
I really have no idea what is going on. It beggars belief that the authorities in the UK cannot access these records - how is this at all possible? The GWF number is generated and issued by the UK authorities. I have their e-mail confirming this along with the appointment details and, just as importantly, confirmation that over £900 has been debited from my account to pay for the visa.
Has anyone here ever experienced these problems and does anyone know who I should turn to to try and get an answer? I know the decision on the application may take some time but I am extremely worried when I am told there is no record of the application - where are al of my documents to start with. We have handed over to VFS original birth certificates, house deeds and other important papers and had a receipt for them.
Appreciate if anyone can give some advice
Many thanks
