Tier 2 to EU Citizen

Hi

I am a non -EEA citizen who recently transferred from a Tier 4 to a Tier 2 Visa.
I am now in a position to receive a passport from an EU country within a month or two.

My questions are:

1) Am I legally obliged to report the additional citizenship to my tier 2 sponsor/UKBA? Would it cancel my tier 2 visa?
2) If I wish to have one day to get a UK passport, can getting the EU passport delay my eligibility? When does the 5 year period start - the date of the passport being issued/ the date I entered the UK with it/ any time I can prove residence in the UK?
3) My wife also received a tier 2 dependent visa but will not be entitled to an EU passport. Is there a disadvantage in being a family member of an EU-citizen Vs. being on a Tier 2 dependent visa? E.g I heard about some UKBA people saying that for non-EU spouse of an EU-citizen, the EU citizen must be in the UK in order for the spouse to enter the UK - meaning that if I'm on a business trip my wife wouldn't be able to leave and enter the UK.

1.. Once you become EU national you will be free from the tier 2 sponsorship and it will be advisable to report and send back your BRP to UKBA authorities.
2. The clock towards achieving PR leading to citizenship will start once you start exercising your treaty rights in UK after becoming EU national.
3. Your wife can simply apply eea2 RC which even allow her to travel freely to other EU countries if travel together with you. She can enter UK without you present in UK as long as your absence does not exceed six months
