Post by neilroy » Wed Aug 15, 2007 4:26 pm

Hello.
My friend who is in UK on workpermit has been caught by spped camera and was send a standard speeding ticket and 3 points on liscense. But since he is here less than 1 yr and he dont have provisisonal ( i told hime repeaedly to get one) his case has been refered to court. Does anybody nows what type of verdict will he expect?

Nothing wrong in using your abroad license for the 1st year, that is perfectly legal.
Probably a fine for his troubles

Intl permit, hmmm that's not supposed to be used if he is trying to avoid getting a full license and extend his transitional use of his original license from whatever country he has license from
probably they will transfer it, so what, these things happen

The topic would have been best posted under the non-immgration part of the board.

To answer your question, Yes! The 3 points are usally present as "ghost points" and will be transfered onto the full UK driving licence once obtained.
