6Months, Now what? UK Family Visit Visa

Post by Ryan888 » Tue Aug 26, 2014 7:07 pm

Hello guys, really quick question. Someone told me which I think might not be right that Once you get a UK visit visa (short term 6 months) and once its expired, you can only apply for a another one after 6months...

Lets assume:

Visa granted 01-01-2014 till 01-07-2014

Travelled on 10-01-2014 back after 3 weeks

Now 01-07-2014 visa gets expired. Can we apply for a new one on 07-2014 or wait till 12-2014?

Hope this makes sense. Reason asking because my and wife (British) live in Dubai and she visits her parents etc every 4/5 months, so we were thinking maybe we can make these trips together.

Please let me know guys

Thanks

You cannot spend more time in the UK in 12 months than you are spending in your main country of residence. If you only spent 3 weeks out of 6 months in the UK you may be successful in obtaining a further visa soon after expiry of the first one.

Thanks for replying. I know that 3 weeks is an Ok time to spend in the UK but I guess what you mean is that the there is no restriction for reapplying for a new application right after the first visa has ended, of course the UK immigration will check how long I stayed in previously (3 weeks max) which I guess is a genuine time period for a short stay holiday.

Maybe next time I can apply for a direct 2 years visa :D

Unlikely you'd get it, you'd need a clean and clear history of successful visit visas, not just one or two. In any case a two-year visit visa is still subject to the same six month diktat.
