Tier 2 extension - online ?

Hi,

Is it possible to apply for extension of a Tier 2 general visa online? Some of the members here have mentioned the form available online on the GOV website for applying for an extension after the CoS has been issued but I also read in a few threads people mentioning about starting the application online. My sponsor has no idea about this and I am managing getting information about the extension on my own.

Could someone please provide some guidance concerning this matter?

Online application submission is only for entry clearance visa. For extension visa, its the usual paper applications.
