After RoR now Marrying British please advise

Post by newinIB » Sun Sep 28, 2014 9:01 am

Hi all, I am in a dilemma at the moment. I came to the UK in June 2010 with EEA family member permit and got residence permit in Jan 2011. My relationship with my ex got bad and divorced. I retained my right of residence.
Now I'm in a new relationship with a british citizen(for last 2 years) and we want to get married soon but wondering what this will mean to my immigration status or should I wait to acquire permanent residence sometime next year? also wondering if I get married now will I qualify to apply for permanent residence straight away?
Thanks so much.

It will not have any effect.

You retention will not be affect, and so will you PR.

Your marriage to British Citizens will only become vital at the citizenship stage.

Thank you Obie, so encouraged by your posts in this site. One more question, now that I have been in the UK for 4 yrs legally, is it possible for me to apply for PR straight after officially marrying my British wife?
