I'm so sorry to bother everyone, but I don't know anything at all about immigration. I'm seventeen years old and I plan to move to England next year when I'm eighteen years old, hopefully during June or between June and August. But I don't know anything about immigration at all, I really need help, I try looking on websites, but I'm just so confused about everything. I'm so sorry to ask everyone's help, but I really just don't know what to do.

I'm from America (The United States of America), I was born here and have lived here all of my life, I've never lived anywhere else. I just really don't know what to do, could someone please help? Oh, it would be absolutely wonderful if someone could, I'm just so hopeless.

Ignore them!!!

Firstly - you can't just move from one country to another - remember: the USA doesn't own the world! So you need to tell us why you want to come to the UK - work? Study? Visit?

If it's to work - forget it if you don't have any skills/a degree. You can try BUNAC or a similar organisation, but you need to be a student for that anyway.

If it's to study - prepare to spend about US$20,000 to study/live here per year, if you're planning on doing a degree. Try www.britishcouncil.org for details about studying in the UK.

If it's to visit - you can't work/study or do anything else, only be a visitor. You don't need a visa since you're an American citizen. Visit the British Embassy in the US http://www.britain-info.org/ .

Actually, that should have been your first point of information. I suggest you do some heavy reading on the UK embassy website before planning a trip.

So, anyway, unless your plan includes studying, you have almost zero chance of moving here (legally) long-term. Unless you're entitled to RoA?

And just to add to Sakura's comments:

Is there any chance (it's an outside chance, I guess) that you might be a citizen of, or entitled to be a citizen of, another EU/EEA country? If so, you could then live and work in the UK without restriction.

But based on what you say, your best bet is probably to continue with your education in the US, become qualified at something and gain some work experience, and then think about moving to the UK a bit later in life. But without knowing a bit more about you, your circumstances, and your hopes and aspirations, it is hard to give any detailed advice.

The UK embassy website contains lots of information: as Sakura says, have a good look at that. You can also look at the UK Visas website.

Also as Sakura says, if your question is genuine, just ignore some of the posts above!
