Lost OCI booklet in India. Please HELP!

Hi,

I came to India in Feb this year on my OCI VISA/Booklet. Unfortunately while in India, I have now lost my OCI Booklet but do still have my British Passport and the Indian Passport.

I looked at the FRRO website and there seems to be and an option to apply for a duplicate via the FRRO under Misc services.

Now I was just wondering, surely I shouldn't have any problems going back to UK in case I wish to apply for the replacement from UK.
The airline staff won't require the OCI as I would be travelling back to UK and have my British passport and UK immigration on arrival in UK don't need to check my OCI.

The reason I was thinking to apply from UK was to save the hassle of applying from India considering the process/travel involved. Or am I best to do it from India itself?

Any advise please?

Oh God! That has raised my stress levels!

I have a return ticked for Dec, what are the chances of me getting the duplicate if I apply now

I think you have sufficient time to get a replacement. OCI booklets are printed in India so apply at the nearest FRRO and hopefully things will be sorted in reasonable time.

I have been looking at the process for applying and was wondering that if I am staying in UP then my FRRO is Lucknow but if I am staying in Uttrakhand then my FRRO is Delhi. Now I normally live with my mother in UP and am close to Delhi. So can I still apply from Delhi being closer or will I have to go to the Lucknow FRRO.

Also I am currently in Uttrakhand and will be staying here for another 20 days. Does that mean I can apply from Delhi if indeed they are strict on the FRRO used?

Another thing, I suppose I can apply to MHA directly in Delhi irrespectively anyway, can I?

I don't know to be honest. You'll have to contact the FRRO and check their requirements.
I presume they may expect you to be residing in their jurisdictions. However if that's not a requirement then go for MHA. I believe regional applications from FRROs are also sent to MHA for processing.

Guess what, my sister found the OCI reg card!!!!!!!
