Visa expiry

Post by mangomm » Thu Oct 09, 2014 8:51 am

Hi there,

When my Tier 2 Work Visa expires, is there a length of time during which I cannot re enter the UK? e.g. can I not come back to the UK for a year from visa expiry?

Thanks so much

If you are referring to Tier 2 (General) visa, you cannot re-enter UK for 12 months once you leave UK to go back to your home country. Your leaving date can be before your visa expiry date.

Thanks so much for your answer.

I am currently engaged to a UK citizen. Even if we were to get married in those 12 months, am I not allowed to re-enter the country?

Let me correct myself. You cannot enter UK again on Tier 2 (General). You can enter on a dependent visa as there is no cooling off required in that case.

In your case, you can enter UK as a partner of UK citizen. Please check gov.uk as to which form to use in your case.
