General Visitor Visa or Family Visitor Visa?

Post by Riya123 » Thu Oct 09, 2014 1:46 pm

Hi,

This forum has been really helpful with my ILR application query previously. I hope you could provide me with correct advice on my current situation:

My visa status is ILR.
I am expecting my second child in March 2015. I have a young child who will be 15 months old then. I would have loved to have my mother to help me with the young children, but unfortunately she is not keeping well herself- so wouldn't want to trouble her. I would like to call my distant aunt to help me during the first few months. I would like to be her sponsorer for her stay, as she is not in a position to show that she will be able to support herself financially for her stay here.

I wanted to know a. if this possible? b.under which category would my Aunt have to apply? c.and what supporting documents should be submitted?

Thanks in advance!

She can apply yes.

She applies under a general visitor visa (https://www.gov.uk/family-visit-visa/eligibility)

You'll need to supply as many supporting docs as possible to show your financial position, your accommodation position and reasons why she'll return - family, job, money, property etc.

Thanks for the reply.
It states in the link that to be able up apply on family visitor visa you need to be directly related ( for instance, mother, daughter or grand child). Does this apply to distant relatives as well?
My aunt is my mother's cousin- not sure what documents has to submitted to establish the relationship.

Thanks Vinny, I have seen this document before. I understand there is no reference to distant relative and hence the question: what category can she apply on?
