Urgent- Invalid type of CoS: restricted/ unrestricted ?

Post by AjPS » Wed Oct 15, 2014 4:43 pm

Hi, I am a Tier 2 (General) migrant looking to apply to change jobs under Tier 2 (General) and was assigned a CoS by my new sponsor yesterday after 3 weeks of their allocation request being processed by the UKBA.
I've found now that they have assigned me a restricted CoS whereas as I am already working under Tier 2 (General) in UK and am applying for a change of employment (to work for a new sponsor), I need an unrestricted CoS.

I had booked a premium service appointment earlier today for next Wed. but may now need to reschedule that. :(

What is the procedure for getting this issue resolved ? Does the sponsor have to cancel this CoS & make a new CoS request for an unrestricted CoS ? If so, how long does that normally take ? I've read online that getting an unrestricted CoS is quicker as there is no annual limit on it and a sponsor can generate and assign it within a few hours from their SMS account (if they have a spare allocation left) without needing UKBA's approval beforehand. Is that true ?

Can't they just contact the UKBA and explain the issue and maybe rectify this by adding a sponsor note to the CoS ? My start date for the new job is in 10 days and now it seems like I won't make it. :(

Please help me out.

P.S: What happens if I apply using a restricted CoS ? Will my application be refused ?
Also, if I reschedule or cancel my premium service appointment, will also I lose the entire £1,001 visa fee ? :(

Hi manci, Thanks, I will ask them.

Regarding my premium service appointment, from what I've read, if I cancel 5 working days before the appointment date or reschedule (which is what I'll probably be doing) 48 hours before it, I should get full refund including the £100 booking fee. My appointment date is 22nd Oct. (next Wed.) so I think if I reschedule it before Friday afternoon, I should ideally get the full £1,001 right ?

@manci: Hi, just to let you know, my sponsor contacted the UKVI today, cancelled the old restricted CoS and have just assigned me a new unrestricted CoS that states type & category as "Tier 2 (General - Changes of Employment)". :)

I will now complete my paper application form & apply next week using my already booked premium service appointment. Thanks for your help.

Also, I just want to confirm the supporting documents needed for my Tier 2 (General) Change of Employment application:
  • *Completed application form
*2 passport-size photos with full name on the back.
    *Passport
    *BRP
    *English language evidence (UK degree)
**Premium appointment payment confirmation e-mail and reference no.

*Maintenance proof: certified by sponsor on unrestricted CoS so no bank statements needed.
Is the above info. correct ?

Urgent:
Hi, what documents are to be submitted for a Tier 2 (General) - Changes of Employment application ? I have my premium appointment early next week & will be providing the form, 2 photos, passport, BRP and my UK degree (English language evidence). I am not providing bank statements as my sponsor has certified maintenance on the CoS. Is this correct or do I need any more supporting evidence ?

Also, is address proof (rental agreement) also needed ?

Dont think ENglish language proof is required.. but rest all looks fine...No address proof's for you , but for dependant spouse yes...
