College for tier 2 ICT dependent

Post by rexuk » Tue Oct 21, 2014 12:48 pm

Hi, My name is Alexandre, I got the ICT tier 2 on August 2014 and moved to London on September.

My daughter from 9 and 13 years old already at the free school in UK.

But I got some problem to find a education for my daughter of 16 years old.

She apply to do the ESOL at Haringey, Enfield. But there the office said that she is 'overseas' and cant get the free education.

Why my 2 other daughters get the free school and the 16 no?

Cheers,

One of the conditions of PBS dependants' leave is: "no recourse to public funds"

see p11:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 2_0EXT.pdf
The law requires all children of compulsory school age to have access to education. Because of this, compulsory school age education does not count as public funds for the purposes of the Immigration Rules.

for the school leaving age see:

As long as your daughter is under 18 she will have acess to free education that meets the National Curriculum. Some FE colleges adhere to this better than others.
ESOL is not a curriculum subject and hence the attitude of the college maybe you pay for that as an overseas student.

Is there any possibility that your daughter could study GCSE subjects with ESOL to gain entry to the college?

Sure, np to my daughter study GCSE. the problem is how can I find information regarding colleges for my daughter?

all started at Enfield Civic Centre. I can get school for my other daughter there, for the eldest , people there give only an email from Youth Training and Employment Guidance Officer. This guy providing me some help to find education.

Im really confuse, I dont know where the correct place to come to find the correct information regarding a free education for my daughter.

cheers
