finally hope for a successful submission but prepare for rejection & demand for additional document/incorrect documentation. unfortunately feedback of CGI b'ham is not always very positive.DoH wrote:Great - I think maybe we'll do it in person then.
I'm planning to apply at CGI Birmingham, so have looked on their website, but the guidance attached to the form and the guidance on the actual web page differs. I have a couple of queries:
- How may photos should I provide (it says 2 in the PDF attached to the form, but 4 on the webpage) and should they be UK passport sized (35 x 45mm) or Indian passport sized (50 x 50mm).
35x45mm...keep 4 in case they ask but most likely they'll take 2![]()
- Does my husband (who has recently been naturalised as a British Citizen) need to provide his naturalisation certificate (it doesn't mention it in the PDF, just says surrender certificate - but on the webpage says you need naturalisation certificate too)
yes naturalisation certificate is required
- Does my husband have to include his birth certificate (he doesn't have one)? Web page says he should, but he was born in India and doesn't have one in this country (not even sure if he has one in India).
I don't believe birth certificate is required. indian passport surrender certificate is sufficient to prove indian origin status
- The webpage mentions a Domicile Certificate; in the PDF guidance this is an 'OR' option, do I need to include it?!
not required. it's OR. indian pp surrender certificate is sufficient
- Do I need to include my children's birth certificates? (applying on basis of their father's previous indian citizenship). It says I'll need them on the webpage, but not in the PDF guidance.
yes, full birth certificiate
- How do I do a thumb impression? with an ink pad or something?
ink pad
- I am applying on basis of my husband's previous indian citizenship. Do I need a 'No Objection Certificate' from him? I don't know what this is, but it says it's mandatory for all applying on spouse basis on the webpage.
i don't think it's required but just get your husband to write a simple no objection in a plain white paper and submit if they ask for it
- Should I include my birth certificate? It says I should have a full version (which I don't think I have) on the webpage but not in the PDF.
not required. birth certificate is for the child and marriage certificate for spouse. do you have birth certificate handy?
For reference the web page I'm looking at is http://cgibirmingham.org/page/display/102/67 and the PDF guidance I refer to is http://cgibirmingham.org/form_files/Form_Pdf_78.pdf
Apologies for so many questions, I find it so frustrating when information is conflicting!
