OZ citizen sponosored for the past 10 years on working visas

Post by kerry51 » Tue Nov 04, 2014 5:41 pm

Hi there,
Was wondering if anyone could give advice.

I've been in ireland on working visas fornear 10 years, I left a couple of years ago to return home for famiily reasons.
The company I was working for offered me a job back in Ireland which i accepted, it was a fixed term contract and a 6 month working visa. The contract was to be extended/made permy, but on very short notice i found out that it is not being extended and have one week to leave the country. I have applied for long term residency but i've been told my application is in the queue.
I was not eligible to a stamp 4 visa when i got here, GNIB enquired about it when i was registering but said i needed to be here a year before i was entitled to it. I am eligible for citzenship once i've been here for a year, well i'm entited to apply

What are my options? chances are i will be able to get work here but I'm more worried that i'll have to leave the country and wont be able to get back on a holiday visa. I should be able to get work fairly quickly with a company who will sponsor but its going to be after my visa expires, also it's very difficult to look if im not living here so I need to stay here - not to mention, friends and family and my life is here - i did not plan on ever leaving ireland.

Any advice would be appreciated

Hey - about 3 months ago now. I followed up and they said im in the queue. Before applying you have to send documents and a letter off and i think from there they only tell you if you are eligible to apply

I think they asked for these documents in order to issue you an approval (did they say submit them within 28 days?)
Of course, unless they asked you for these documents on submission day of ltr, which they dont ask for (they ask for passport stamps and gnib and cover letter only then they make their checks)

Worst case is that you update them on your status and they may postpone your status until you get a job. Nowadays its easy to get any job, and while looking for a job, gnib would give you 6 months to look for a job (3 then 3) so you still on safe side. Best policy to avoid future trouble is to be honest with them... System here is much better than the US and UK when it comes to taking consideration.

What week and month you applied in?

Ps i know its only 1 week or so until you lose you job but you can ask your employer for employment letter (they still obliged because you technically still employed) and maybe tell them its for my landlord as a reference to let me.. Gnib accept letters dated up to 6 weeks (sometimes up to 3 months)
