EEA2 question

I am an American citizen living in the UK with my Italian wife. I have sent in my EEA2 application but am now worried about something.

On my wife's job contract and payslips she has taken my last name, but on all of her official documents, ie passport, she has retained her family name. She has not legally taken my name, but has only done so for work reasons because my name is easier to pronounce. I included a letter with my application explaining this, but do you think it would be a good idea to send them a contract with her family name on it? The application is still pending, so there is still time.

Assuming that you have sent in a marriage certificate then this won't be a problem.

Okay, I hope you are right. The marriage certificate has her family name on it, and her job contract and payslips have mine on it. Hope that is okay!

It ought to be all right. There's no legal requirement for a wife to take her husband's surname (and there never has been): it is merely a convention. Of course, it is easier to use the one surname, although that isn't always practicable for one reason or another. In any case, the marriage certificate ought to demonstrate that Miss (or Ms) X is the same person as Mrs (or Ms) Y.
