Common name = background check nightmare?

Post by Elparaguas » Wed Nov 12, 2014 4:48 pm

Hi all,

I'm a US citizen who just married my husband, who is permanently settled in the UK. I am applying for a spouse visa and have a question about the background checks conducted by the UKBA when processing my application.

I have quite a common name, but no one with my name shows up in any criminal records or criminal court searches. However, there are dozens and dozens of marriage licenses and divorce records from people with my exact name. Does the UKBA search *only* criminal courts nationwide, or any and all court records? If it's the latter, I'm in for a headache.

I have no criminal charges so I'm not worried about that part.

Thanks in advance,
BL
