I had 2 phone interviews from the US before I came to the UK for different jobs. I already had the HSMP, but the EC was pending. Unfortunately, I didn't get either of those roles.

It will be hard to find a job before you arrive in the UK. You can get a local UK phone number with Skype, so that at least you have local contact info before you arrive and people will not realise immediately that you're outside of the UK. This is a bit of a setup, I know, but it could be helpful to get people to call you. I did do that, and I found it useful for the job hunt.

Good luck.

I've had several phone interviews with companies, in which two has pursued a second interview this time, via video conference. I already requested a letter of comparability from the UK NARIC and I plan to submit my HSMP application by middle of Sept. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these two companies will be willing to offer me a job afterwards.

I will keep you guys posted.

Hi,
It would be great if folks posting here also mention the field/industry to give a better picture. This thread would be useful for all.
Herts,
Can you please tell which field was your friend from?

Thanks,
Aman

Hi,

Good point Aman, it ll be great if guys can mentione thier domain also.

The posts look pretty discouraging.

And people already present in the UK, can you comment on the Nov - Feb dull period?

Now that I have got HSMP and informed my employer that I would be leaving, i am in a big fix, I dont know what to do...

My personal experience says Nov-Jan is very very dull period for jobs and it picks up in summer around April-August.

I am from Pakistan and I work in embedded system and development tools (compiler/debugger) domain.
I had many phone interviews and scheduled 4-5 interviews before I came to UK. Gave three interviews in first week and got job offer from all of them. But in the meantime, my previous employer gave me the offer to work for their UK office so I accpeted that. So I think if you have experience in this field, you should be able to find a job.

I just finished the first video conference interview two days ago and another one tonight. The first company told me that they are willing to pay for plane fare to UK so we can have a face-to-face interview. I hope I can receive job offers from these two companies so I'll be able to choose. And also, so I can submit an urgent treatment form and have my HSMP approved in one week.

My field is in Actuarial-Life Insurance.
