Overstay 2 days

In practice, are there any consequences for overstaying your student visa by 2 days?

Does that mean yes? I Know about the 28 day rule but I wondered if anyone had had problems for overstaying for shorter periods.

What are the overstayer's intentions?
Overstayers cannot work, etc.
If s/he extends as a student, then s/he cannot use established presence. If s/he leaves the UK, then there shouldn't be any further problems, apart from declaring it, if/when asked.

Thanks for your answer. Much appreciated. She was too ill to travel so she had to delay her departure.
