Unsure on which type of visa to apply for Marriage

Post by Reus29 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:28 pm

Hi all,

I am a British Citizen and my fiancee(planning to get married in January) is Turkish citizen but lives in France and holds a carte de sejour. My question is that, would it be easier i.e. the procedures documents required etc. for us to apply in Britain. So she will get a visitor visa then will make the wedding here or would it be no differences if we decided to marry in France and apply from there, and which type of visa would I need for either case ?

All replies are much appreciated.

Regards

If you want to marry here you will have to apply for a fiancee visa - VAF4a and after the wedding apply for a spouse extension - FLR(M).
If you marry in France it would require only one application (and one visa fee) applying for a spouse settlement visa - VAF4a.
Ensure before applying for either that you can comply with the financial rule of minimum earnings of £18,600 pa and your fiancee has passed the pre-entry A1 English test.
