Work permit dependant

Post by Sampadiman » Sun Sep 02, 2007 12:33 pm

Hi all,

My wife has a 5-year work permit visa in UK, 2 years left. we married 6 month ago, and now that I come to UK, on my work permit dependant visa, I find a job but my company does not apply for work permit for me, because with work permit dependant, I am eligible to work in UK.We are both civil engineers, I am 33 and my wife is 25.

We are both from Armenia, and now my wife is fired from her job, so she should go back home. My question is

should I back home or I am still eligible to work in uk?

What should my company do for me?

Can mywife Stay with me here, because I have job right now?

Please help me because I really love my job and I do not want to miss it.

Many Thanks for your urgent help

Not good news, I'm afraid unless you or you wife can find an employer willing to sponsor for Work Permit you'll both have to go home within 28 days I think, not sure about the last bit.

With your wife working under WP, your dependent visa is invalid now and you are not allowed to work. If you can explain this to your employer they might be sympathetic?

Or have a look at HSMP.

Either way you don't have much time.

Udachi vam.

your wife should be on a one month notice period, so that should give you more breathing time?

Udachi vam is (hopefully!) russian for 'Good Luck to you', I'm assuming as Armenians they understand Russian!

While my gf is away I'm getting rusty, so I try and stick a bit in a post when I get the chance.

My mate at work has a two year one but u'd be better off posting on the HSMP forum, for solid advice.

My aforesaid mate changed from WP to HSMP and of course he was legal while his app was under consideration. He was working *not* under his WP at that time I know that - whether that was legal I dunno...
