Tution Fees

Post by mansawant » Wed Sep 05, 2007 10:52 pm

Hi,

I am depedent of workpermit holder. After two years we will be eligible for ILR. I am here in UK since Jan 05 as a depedent. I would like to know once we get ILR I will be eligible for UK tution fees in universities or I have to pay overseas tution fees.

Thanks & Regards,
Mansawant

From http://www.corporate.coventry.ac.uk/cms ... 280&a=1158
1.That s/he was 'settled' (i.e. no time limit on stay) in the United Kingdom within the meaning of the Immigration Act 1971 on his or her relevant date; and

2.That s/he has been ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom and Islands for a three-year period preceding his or her 'relevant date'; and

3.That no part of the three-year period of residence was wholly or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education.
Follow the link for more details. Essentially you need to be a dependent here for 3 years before you start Uni. So as long as you start after Jan '08, and after ILR, then you would be eligible for home fees. And student loans etc, depending on further means criteria of course.[/url]

Distance learning institutions, such as the Open University and University of London (External) may only need UK residence, not necessarily 3 years.
