Spouse Visa or Visitor Visa

Post by nnsa1 » Wed Dec 17, 2014 11:14 am

I am a British Citizen and have recently got married in India. My wife is Indian citizen and need to apply for visa to join me in UK.

My wife's education was not in English.

If she applies for a spouse visa then she will have to prepare and pass the IELTS exam ( English Test) and then apply for spouse visa, which may take 5 to 6 months ( english test + visa).

So I am thinking of applying for UK visitor visa for her. Once the visa is granted she will come to UK. While in UK she can prepare and appear for the English Test.
When this visa is about to finish i.e in 6 months time, she will come back to India and apply for a spouse visa.

Please let me know if the UK visitor visa would cause any issues for a spouse.

Note :- She is not studying and not working at the moment.

How can she satisfy the ECO of her intention to return to her home country before expiry of leave?

Thank You for your quick response Vinny. You are right, it will not be possible to satisfy ECO of her intention to return back to India.

What is the way out ?
