How quickly can we get schengen visa? complicated situation

Post by robsters » Sun Dec 21, 2014 6:47 am

Ok our situation quite complicated so bear with me, so before we were married my wife was refused tourist visa for uk (intent of trip to visit my parents before marriage) next after marriage we applied for irish visa and heard nothing back, meanwhile my visa is maxed out in my wife country and i must leave in january

my question is can i just get my wife a schengen visa at short notice and bring her with me to somewhere in europe before my visa expires and exercise my treaty rights and look for work as our money getting desperate a well. which country could my wife get a schengen visa quickly? im talking days not weeks if thats possible, we hopeing to get the irish visa but its been over 6 weeks now and not getting any word back on it.

someone please up us!

I have also thought about just flying her into eu country and show them our marriage document at border and simply say we were unable to obtain the visa even though we tried and because my visa for my wife country expiring soon we had to leave together....could this work ?

As per schengen visa codes, issuing authorities must take a decision within 15 days. Though usually decisions are taken quicker but you need to plan atleast for 15 days/ 3week ..perhpas bit longer due to forthcoming holidays.

Once arrived at the border of EU (schengen) country you may gain entry with your spouse by showing the marriage document and proving the the relationship but without visa it's unlikely that any Stupid will allow travel.

I've told you i'm in a similar situation rob, my plan is to get my soon to be wife and her son to Cyprus or Bulgaria, both places are cheap to live but Cyprus has slight chance of work.
Theres a good chance to get resident certificate within 3 months . And Cyprus is in Schengen area so can move about.

I really feel for you Rob, I'm facing xmas alone because of ukvi. By all means try for a visa, no harm in having 2 or 3 applications in at the same time and use the best one you get, if you can afford that.

Tourist visa can take a while, as already mentioned a Schengen one should be issued in 15 days, you can still exercise treaty right, freedom of movement like, but only stay in the country till your Irish visa arrives.

Malta and Cyprus are gonne lovely and warm this time of year.
