Extending Tier 4 Leave to Remain - Medical reasons

Hi all,
Desperately looking for help. Really appreciate any assistance regarding my case:

- my daughter born 6mnths ago in the UK during my Tier 4 requires an urgent operation via NHS in a few weeks and will also require 6 weeks of rest post operation (I have the official letters for this)
- my visa (Tier 4) and my wife's (Tier 4 dependent) expires 22 Jan 2015.
My wife and I need to be around for about 1.5mnths post our visa expiry. What is the route I should take to apply for an extension (or leave to remain) to ensure we are around to support our child?

IMO, you can do an FLR application but I don't know if it will be successful. You stated that the operation is urgent but also taking place in few weeks time, this might lead them to think that its something not very serious. Although you do have official paperwork but they could also say that if the treatment is available in your home country then why not avail there? If the doctors have advised not to travel before the treatment then that could be a different thing, they might consider that fact and grant you guys leave on compassionate grounds. Do wait for some others to comment as well.
