permission for right to work

Hi,
my long residency ilr visa refused on the basis of being overstay for 17 days,thats pity. Anyways i have lodged appeal. My big prob is i am served with form is96 and have to report home office every fortnight. Prob is that letter sates no right to work, my apeal would take more then 6 months how can i ask for permission for right to work.
Any help plzzzzzz

u cant get work permission ,its only for asylum seekers who wait more then 1 year to get decision

Ok ...but on is96 form it says that u are not allowed to work untill immigration officer alow so that means there is something in law which allows im..officer to allow permision. But thats my understanding may be am wrong. If they dont allow then what do think how someone can support himself here.
