When the Wife and Child can getapply for PR/ILR?

Post by The_Guy » Mon Jan 12, 2015 8:32 am

Hi Members,
I have a question, if somebody knows about it. If I get British Citizenship today, than how long it will take to get PR (permanent residency)/ILR(indefinite leave to remain). Spouse-and-child came in UK just couple of months ago, when i was PR holder only. Child is just one year old.

My one friend said, that they will be eligible to apply for PR after one year of getting my British citizenship. Is it ture? If it is ture then may I get some source to read about it?

I look forward for your replies guys.

thanks

That advise is clearly wrong. Your wife and child can only qualify for citizenship once they have obtained ILR.

This may be 5 years after they were first granted entry clearance, and if under the Old rules 2 years.

solution for the problem: one person entered uk on tier 4 in 2009, in 2010, switched his status from tier 4 to spouse visa in country, got ILR on SETM after 2 years, he can apply for nationality on the other day and there is no need for him/her to be on one year ILR, according to the provisions of the BNA 1981.
