Change of employment - job title problem

Post by hopeforthebest1 » Wed Jan 14, 2015 12:47 pm

Hi All,

I am having problem with my tier 2 extension application for change of employment.

I got an offer for "process engineer" with a chemical engineering company so my job matches the criteria for "Chemical engineer" on the job shortage list. However, on both my application and CoS system, my employer and I filled in the form with job title "Process engineer". I only realised that it is a problem after I have done the BRP and then received a letter from Home Office saying my payment is not correct. I made the additional payment for the job not on shortage list and also attached a letter to explain that my job title is actually "chemical process engineer". It is clearly stated in my company's letter that I attached with my application. Home office took the money on 6th Jan and I haven't heard from them since. This leads to another problem. Because my job literally is on the job shortage list, my company didn't perform RLMT.

My question is, would my application be refused because of the confusion of job title? Would you suggest me withdraw the application and make another fresh application as my current visa expires on 13th March? If it is refused, do I have to make appeal or I can just resubmit the application with new CoS?

I look forward to hearing any opinion or experience sharing soon.

Thanks.

They say they look at the job description, not the title. So really, I think you are worrying for nothing!

Thanks for the reply physicskate.

I wasn't worrying until I received the letter from Home Office during Christmas time saying my application is not valid due to the shortage of payment. I paid £428 (Up to 3 years - shortage occupation) originally, but Home Office asked me to pay £601 (Up to 3 years - Not shortage occupation) in the letter. That is why I am worrying.

I am not sure if the people in charge of payment only look at the job title but the job description and someone else will check in more details in CoS and job details later.

Has anyone had similar problem with the job title before? I know it is a silly mistake but I would expect Home Office caseworkers have some common sense to realise my job is on the shortage list and RLMT is not required. At the same time, my employer is going to add a note on my CoS form saying the job is Chemical engineer.
