Important: Help The Dream Act Community Pass The Bill

Post by thedream » Wed Sep 12, 2007 2:22 am

Hi,

I'm part of a large internet community from the Dream Act Portal (DAP) who are trying to take action in order to pass this bill. Please visit us at www.dreamact.info and click on the discussion forums to find out how you can help. We constantly have campaigns to call and email senators, along with other campaigns as they are thought through. Your help and that of your friends/family is very much in need. Please don't procrastinate and allow this opportunity to pass by. We need you now!

sincerely,

"thedream"

.

Let us not try to hide what this is about. I'll let members make their own decisions how they feel about it.

What the "Dream Act" is all about is

- people who illegally entered and reside in the United States had children in the country after immigrating illegally

- children born on American soil are American citizens

- NOTHING has changed in American law (YET!) that denies these children their American citizenship.

HOWEVER, the "Dream Act Portal" site heavily implies that these children have "inherited" the designation of "illegal immigrant."

That is quite deceptive.

What the "Dream Act" is designed to do is to legalize children BORN OUTSIDE OF AMERICA who were brought to the country as very young minors when their parents entered illegally.

They did not "inherit" the "illegal immigrant" designation.

They ARE illegal immigrants .. albeit involuntarily, since many were brought in as infants and extremely young (under 5 years old) and had no choice about it.

I personally don't have a problem with members in this forum discussing their pet projects, so long as it's not promotion of business. I consider this website & its activities to be a fairly normal activist organization and falls within the general behavior of other similar activist-type topics.

But, let us all be just VERY careful about deceptive behavior regarding what an organization is about.

Deliberate misrepresentation of a topic will result in deletions and banning.
