Question regarding change to approved English qualifications

Post by sqaush » Mon Jan 26, 2015 8:48 pm

Hi,

My husband has ESOL Entry Level 3 City and Guilds which he was awarded in May 2014. He studied for it for a year knowing that he needed it for his ILR application. We went to see a solicitor today to help with final checks for our application as we are ready to apply next month. His spouse visa expires on the 6th March. We were shocked to discover whilst at the solicitors that the ESOL Entry Level 3 from City and Guilds in no longer accepted. Apparently they changed in August last year. Even his English tutor was not aware of these changes.

I am now panicking as we have less than a month until we need to send the application. Is there anything I can do?? A friend suggested I contact the Cardiff office where we will apply but I can't find an email address or phone number anywhere. Is there anywhere else I could contact?

Any advice would be much appreciate. Thank you

Check the qualifications with the Home Office list of acceptable qualifications. If it is on the list, it will be acceptable.

Its been removed from the list of approved tests since my husband took the exam. It was on there at the time he was studying for it earlier last year.

Hi

I would suggest taking A1 exam from Trinity College, it's 6 min exam.

Slots are widely available, please see below link.
