Right Of Abode (ROA) Transfrer to New Passport

Post by ravihirani » Mon Feb 02, 2015 5:05 pm

Hi all,

I would Appreciate Any Help on this Matter

I Booked Tickets to India For Grandmother, after checking her passport I realised that when she was due to fly back to the UK she would have only 3 months remaining on her passport. as most places require to have 6 months valid on the Passport to travel I got it renewed

she now has a cancelled Indian Passport with a Right Of Abode (ROA) stamp on it and a new indian passport with no stamp

now I am I stuck In a situation that the this can not be transferred in time as it take 6-8 weeks via post and they do not have a faster/premium counter service

I Phoned the home office to see if she could travel with old and new passport to show she has had a ROA Stamp on Previous Passport and a right to stay but have been told that is not possible as the ROA stamp expires with Passport

If she was to travel she may not be allowed to travel back as the airline may refuse her (she is Travelling Via Jet Airways) and if the airline does let her fly then UK immigration may refuse.

I have been told Applying in India will take even longer as they send the passports back to the UK for approval

I don't know what do as this trip is important to sort out some paperwork and she has to go

Can I apply for a UK tourist visa for her to enter back to the UK and then get the stamp transferred ?????

Please advise

Thanks In Advance
