Hi everyone, I just joined the site in an effort to have my question answered. I've been looking everywhere but can't seem to find someone in the exact same boat as me.
I'm a UK citizen who has been living with my American fiance in Thailand since September 2012. We then moved together to Madrid, Spain two years later, in September 2014. We are getting married in Gibraltar on 31st March. We then plan to apply for the EEA family permit so that when we finish our work contracts here in Spain, we can move to the UK and settle down together.
We understand how to go about obtaining the family permit, and everything seems like it should go smoothly given our situation. However, I have one big question that has recently popped up:
My work contract in Spain ends in May, and his in June. If I were to travel to the UK in May to stay with family and begin setting up, looking at housing, etc., would my fiance be able to join me around 3 weeks later? Would this affect the family permit, or affect the way we had to apply for it? If I cannot go this route, I won't, but I am considering it if possible because it would save me hanging around in Spain for 3 weeks without pay.
Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!
