surinder singh an option?

Post by expatqs » Sun Feb 15, 2015 5:43 pm

Hello - I want to make sure that I am understanding the surinder singh route correctly before dragging my family across the world if it's not.

I am a uk citizen an my husband is us citizen and his mother us citizen. currently all residing in usa.
because my mother in law cannot come into uk under a standard visa we are wanting to use surinder singh via ireland.

It is my understanding that if we go to ireland to live and work then from there we can apply for a eea fp for my husband and mother in law. I'm not worried about my husband getting into the uk, i'm worried if it will work for my mother in law.

When we apply for eea fp do we file my mother in law as my extended family or as my husbands immediate family, and will this route work for us to bring her to uk. We are financially stable and can prove that she will not be a burden to society, and can fully support her.

any help and advice is greatly appreciated thank you!

Are you living with her in the same household?

Is she financially dependent on you?

Yes she is living with us and she receives social security from her deceased husband but it is not enough so yes she is financially dependent on us
