Spousal Visa Extension (2013), but visa only 27 months??

Post by AppleCat » Tue Feb 17, 2015 11:18 pm

Hello,

My husband and I were married on 30th December of 2012, afterwards which I applied for my spousal visa from Canada and moved to join him in the UK in February 2013. I had read all the updated changes so am/was aware that my visa was good for 2.5 years, at which point I would apply for the extension, and after 5 years apply for ILR. However, my husband was randomly looking at my passport and noted that my visa expires at the end of April, while I had been thinking June. I feel silly that I hadn't realized this, but that means that my initial visa was only for 27 months! Through my research I've read that the initial visa should have been for 33 months, with the extension being 30 months.

With my first being 27 months, and the extension supposedly only 30 months, even if I wait until right before it expires to extend in person, I'll still fall short of the needed 5 years to apply for my ILR and will need to spend even more money on a third extension.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? I can't find any information on this and am completely deflated at the prospect of having to apply for two extensions before I'm eligible for ILR...
