EU Treaty Rights after obtaining PR card

Post by hungolad » Sat Feb 21, 2015 4:07 pm

Hi all,

Another question.

Am I expected to exercise EU Treaty Rights during the 12 months period after obtaining a PR card and before applying for British Citizen ship?

If not, what requirements do I have for the last 12 months other than

- max 90 days outside the UK
- sound mind, no criminal offence, over 18 years of age
- language test, life in the UK test
- 2 referees.

Is there anything I would need in the last 12 months?

Looking forward to read any useful comments, suggestions, etc.

Many thanks in advance.

You're no longer expected to exercise treaty rights but you'd be expected to prove your residency in the UK during the last 12 months by means of pay slips, bank statements or council/utility tax bills etc.
All information given is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Thanks for the answer. Is there possibly a list of what UKBA accepts as a proof of address?

You need to prove you meet the residence requirements for the full 5 years (before the application) when applying for naturalisation. Not only the time since you achieved PR (requirements for PR and naturalisation are different). Normally a passport is all that is needed to prove residency for naturalisation (even for EEA nationals).
Check the FAQ before posting!
Citizenship (adults, children, passport)
EEA (EEA FP, RC, PR, Surinder Singh)

Did you mean 5 years + 12 months?
