Nice and simple, answer is here: http://www.diplomatie.be/en/services/na ... XTID=42511

Are you on an EEA family permit or a Belgian-issued spouse visa?

You will have to renounce your Japanese citizenship in order to acquire another citizenship, so do bear that in mind. If you ever plan to return to Japan to live there, you'd probably have to get a residence permit (or whatever exactly they call it). You also probably can't pass on your Japanese citizenship to any children you have after renouncing it.

In that case you need to look at naturalisation as a Belgian citizen:

Does your wife want to apply for Belgian citizenship too? (she can become Belgian and keep her British citizenship).

Same goes for your children (have you got any?) - they can be dual British/Belgian.

It's already been pointed out to you that you need to be prepared to lose your Japanese citizenship.
