Applying for Tier 4 outside UK and Home Country

Post by ap2697 » Thu Mar 05, 2015 1:03 pm

Hi there,

I am from New Zealand and am currently in the UK on the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme, which expires in March 2016. I am starting a one year Master's degree in October 2015 and am going to need to switch to a Tier 4. One of the conditions of youth mobility is that it cannot be extended or switched for a different visa without leaving the UK.

This brings me to my first question: rather than paying the pricey airfare to return to New Zealand and then fly back, could I theoretically apply for a German working holiday visa (Germany does not require applicant to apply from home country), then once i have that, go to Berlin before my Tier 5 ends, and apply for a Tier 4 from there? Does the working holiday visa mean that I am "resident" in Germany?

My next question: If I was to return to New Zealand to apply for Tier 4, it would suit me better to go in December. That would mean my course had begun 2 months ago. Would this cause problems for me?

Final question: My boyfriend is going to apply as my dependent. As long as my course is 12 months or longer (it's 12 months), he will be allowed to work without restriction. If we apply for my Tier 4 and his dependency in December, that will mean that my course will be two months in. Will this affect the status of my course as being '12 months or longer'.

Very keen to hear anyone's thoughts, or if anyone has had similar experiences with this.

Thank you,

Amy

Have you been living with your boyfriend in a relationship akin to marriage for at least two years or will you have done by October 2015? Do you have documentary evidence to prove this?

Will you be studying at a university?

If the holday visa for germany does fall in a temporary resident permit which i think it should then i believe you can apply from there

however students applying after the course has started do often get trouble by not getting the visa because the session would be considered missed even after somehow you do get the sponsor letter from UNI....and 2 months is quite sometime

and yes to get your boyfriend here as dependent you do need to prove your relationship is longterm and geniune

i would advise you to take a professional advice on the matter of your dependant and then decide whether you need to go to newzealand ot not...

Can u not start ur course in Jan 2016 making ur life hell a lot of easier.
U can go back home in December n apply for a tier 4 visa wid out any hassel lol

As for dependent it would be pretty hard u need to show wid evidence that u r in a subsisting relationship wid ur bf for minimum two years n hv been living together during all dat time.

Good Luck
