Original Naturalisation Certificate for OCI required?

Without going into much detail, my wife, out of her naive stupidity, ripped my British Naturalisation Certificate. I have already had my British passport interview, so am assuming that my British passport is on its way. Next step is to renounce Indian citizenship and apply for OCI. Does anyone know:

1. Do I need the naturalisation certificate for surrendering my Indian passport (VFS website says I only need a photocopy of the naturalisation certificate, which I have)?
2. Do I need the naturalisation certificate for getting an OCI (VFS website says a photocopy of naturalisation certificate will suffice)?
3. People with experience, do you know if VFS insists on seeing the original certificate?

Hi Gulz,

Yes you need to have the Original Naturalization certificate for surrender of Passport and Original Naturalization certificate + Original Surrender Certificate for OCI.

I think you can apply for Naturalization certificate if you have a photocopy of the lost one. It might cost you . Please go through the beloww link.

For Surrender you just need a photocopy.

For OCI I am not sure.

Only a copy was required when applying to HCI, but now seems they need all originals!
Mandatory documents for an OCI Application:

Printed Application form: All applicants need to fill the online application form on the website http://passport.gov.in/oci/
2 photographs as per the photo specifications
Foreign Passport Copy
Copy of Naturalisation Certificate, if applicable.
All applicants are required to submit the originals along with the copy of the Proof of Indian Origin documents as per the below list.
