Work Permit Companies

I have come through this company website that claim of being able to arrange for a work permit if I have a valid job offer. Ofcourse it's hard to get a job offer without a work permit, so they offer a 'certificate' that assure the employer & the agencies that I'm eligible to work and I'll be getting a work permit if they wish to employ me.
can this be genuine? or is it a ripoff?

When I came to the UK several years back looking for a job, no agency or employer would entertain me because I did not have a work permit. However, one of the consultants issued a letter which stated that they if I was offered a relevant job offer, they could help in processing the work permit. It obviously did not work instantaneously, but I attached copies of this to all job applications and it did make a difference.

Face it..... Most employers do not want the hassle of work permits and this is where the such consultants come in.

In my opinion, you should check if the consultant is registered by the OISC for a start and then proceed with them.

It is VERY difficult for companies to do this and remain legal. I only know of one, and I am not sure if they still are legal as it has been some years since I worked on their accounts. The problem is that, in order for it to remain legal, the sponsoring company has to show that they are providing services, not manpower, and that they are a genuine employer. The Home Office need to see a contract between them and the end user. If this is not supplied, then the 'employing' company is really just bodyshopping, which is illegal.

The company I was talking about is registered with OISC and offer immigration consultancy. They only assist in processing work permits on behalf of employers and are not involved in "bodyshopping" or "sponsoring".

i'm quite desparate regarding finding a job and i might try it

At the end of the day only the company that is offering you a job can organise a work permit for you. Visa agencies may be able to help prepare the application for a work permit and ensure that all the proper documents are handed in with the application. But without the involvement of the company that is sponsoring the work permit you will not get very far.

And just to clarify, if someone tells you that they can get you a work permit and then once you have the permit you can go and find a job, then that company is operating illegally.
