Redundant - tier 2 please help

Post by spenther » Sun Mar 15, 2015 2:06 pm

Hello,

I am currently on a tier 2 visa and have just been made redundant as of last Monday 9th of March 2015. I am currently being interviewed by a new company who are interested in employing me but want to know what it would entail to Sponsor me as they do not have a Sponsorship License. Please can someone help with the following questions:

1. How long does it take for a company apply for a sponsorship license and can it be fast tracked for a fee?
2. Once they have this, do they then do the RLMT or apply for a CoS? Which is first? How much is a CoS?
3. Am I correct in thinking that from the day my current company notify the UKBA of my redundancy that I have 28 days until I am issued a letter and from there a following 60 days before my visa is curtailed?
4.Do I need to purchase a whole new visa if it is the same job at a different company? If so how much is it?
5. I am likely to apply for a very similar job - is this likely to affect my application success or denial?
6. If my visa is currently in process and my 60 days a are over am I allowed to stay in the UK while a decision is being made?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

1. 3 weeks maximum, if they have all documents ready.
2. First RLMT and then CoS. Ask them to start RLMT at the same time when they apply for license to save time.
3. UKBA usually takes 28 days to take the decision. But it might be few months too. Once they take the decision, they will send a letter to you stating when your 60 days starts.
4. Yes, You have to pay £601 for new application as per current rule. New rule from 6th April might increase the price.
5. If your job comes under NQF 6 and employer has followed all the process under Tier 2, then there is no problem.
6. If you apply within 60 days, there is no problem. Yes, you are allowed to stay till decision is pending.
