PIO/OCI card for baby born in UK

Post by krish1989 » Tue Mar 17, 2015 11:02 am

Hi,

My baby was born in UK in Oct 2014. I was under tier-1 general visa back then.

We applied for Indian passport for the baby and my wife and baby flew to India in Nov 2014.

I applied and got my ILR in Dec 2014. Now I am trying to get the baby to the UK with a dependent visa.

I would assume that I can apply for British Citizenship for the baby after coming to the UK as I have my ILR now.

If the baby needs to fly to India after obtaining British Citizenship, do we need to apply for PIO or OCI?

I wouldnt be eligible for BC until early next year. What documents would be needed for PIO/OCI if eligible to apply and how long would they take?

Thanks in advance.

1. OCI or normal visa or long term C visa. PIO doesn't exist anymore
2. Check VFS

Thanks for the reply. I have a quick question though.

Is it necessary to apply for a dependent visa for the baby or can I get away with applying a visit visa and then once the baby is in UK apply for the British citizenship as the baby was born in the UK
