Applying for EEA Family Permit

Post by sjh » Wed Sep 26, 2007 8:01 pm

Hi, this is my first time on this board and I need a little advice!

I am a US citizen and my husband came over here to visit me in the US and we ended up getting married unintentionally. He has Conditional Permanent Residency here right now. His next appointment for interview is not until next year. We have decided to go to the UK for a while. He is still considered a British Citizen. Once I have received my EEA Family permit, and we travel to the UK, where my husband is going to be with me, will I have any problems of getting in where he is in the US for over a year now??

Also, I read online that I have up to 6 months and if I wanted permanent resident there, I have to apply at the immigration office before the 6 months are up correct?

I read on a site before I came here, that we have to support ourself and live/own in our own house and that I am allowed to live with a relative temporary?? How temporary is that?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

Does your husband have any other EU nationality besides British? If not, then you would not apply for a family permit. You would need to apply for a spousal visa, which is valid for 2 years.

This is the forum for continental Europe.

If you want to go to one of the islands west of us, take a look at one the forum for the UK or Ireland

How on earth does one marry by accident.....?
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.

Las Vegas with a couple of bottles of booze is a good start.

He only came here to meet me. He was staying here for a little under 3 months and by the time it was close to his day to go back, we decided to get married because we didn't want to stay away from one another....
