Self-employment for Turkish illegal entrants/overstayers

Post by jimquk » Fri Sep 28, 2007 8:53 am

Interesting article from a Turkish paper in London:

http://www.londragazete.com/popup.php/c ... glish_News

It says that
THE European Court of Justice has ruled in favour of two Turkish nationals who were refused Ankara Agreement visas by the Home Office because they were failed asylum seekers.
It seems that even if a Turkish citizen wouldn't be eligible for such a visa on entry, if they can subsequently establish themselves in self-employment they can apply to remain.
The Refused are coming day-by-day nearer to freedom.

Hi Jim - I imagine this is the Dari and Tum case, which has been wending its way through the High Court and Court of Appeal. I'll have a read, and post later.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
