Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 General

Is anyone here had successfully convert their Tier 2 ( ICT - Long Term Staff )issued after April 2011 Visa to Tier 2 General.

I am trying in this way:
my wife is pursuing her employer to provide her t2general visa. once she has restricted cos she will apply from home country.
i will then transfer from t2ict to t2g dependent from uk itself.
after 12 months on t2g dependent, i will try to get t2g of my own through some reputed employer who can provide me restricted cos.

lets see if it works. Is there anyone who has done this in past? or knows someone who has done this in past?
