Applying for Tier 2 (Gen) extension just before 6th of April

Dear all,

I am currently on Tier 2 (General), and I need to apply for an extension due to the end of my previous visa and start of a new job. I was going to apply after Easter, but after reading this https://www.gov.uk/government/world-loc ... rcharge--3 (introduction of the health surcharge from 6th of April) decided to apply next week. But there is one thing that troubles me - the Tier 2 visas have a limit (20700 workers per 2014/2015) which is set for the year starting from 6th of April. Does that mean I will most probably not be given a visa, as probably the limit was already depleated? Or the system is not that stupid, and they don't choose on the first come first served basis?

the 20,700 annual limit only applies to restricted CoSs. For the extension you'll need an unrestricted CoS for which there is no annual limit.
