Registration of Children

Post by gsz » Thu Apr 02, 2015 10:24 pm

Hello,

I'd appreciate some advice regarding the following - hopefully straightforward - situation:

I'm an EU immigrant, have lived in the UK for over ten years. I have had a "Document Certifying Permanent Residence" for over a year. I believe I can apply for naturalisation. My question concerns my two children, both younger than 18. They have also lived in the UK for over ten years, they're also EU citizens. Their mother and I divorced after moving to the UK, but she also remained in the UK and have lived here for about ten years. I'm not sure if she has a permanent residence certificate, I will have to find out. I did not apply for this certificate for my children (which may have been a mistake).

I believe my children may be eligible for registration for citizenship when I go through naturalisation. If this is correct, how do I go about this?

Do they also need this "Document Certifying Permanent Residence" first?
Do I first naturalise and then when it's done register my children? Or naturalisation for myself and registration for the children are supposed to happen at the same time?
What about their mother, does she have to naturalise as well at the same time for the children to be registered? Is it enough for her to have her permanent residency certified?

Thank you very much in advance,
Greg

Form MN1 along with your own AN form.

If they were not born in UK, then yes.

It depends where the kids were born, if born in UK then since you are a PR holder its an entitlement and can register anytime, if they were born outside UK then its on Home Office's discretion and preferably to be applied with our own AN application.

Her PR is enough.

You're welcome, I am not from EU originally, so I'd await more replies from other members here. Good luck.
Being British is a state of mind.
