Change First name for the baby born abroad

Post by aneil » Tue Apr 07, 2015 4:56 pm

Hi guys,

Our daughter is born in India and arrived in UK as a dependant of Tier 1 visa. She then attained ILR at the same time as myself.

I need to apply for her Naturalisation now. Before that, there is one important thing we would like to do is 'Change her First name'.

Procedure I intend to follow:
1. Apply for Naturalisation with her original name
2. Apply for British passport on new name with deedpoll
3. Surrender her Indian passport
4. Apply for OCI card based on new name

Am I right in the procedure mentioned above? If not then can anyone please suggest me best course of action in this?

The only reason I didn't want to change her name straightaway is since I wanted to avoid the hassle of changing it in Indian passport which involves newspaper ads etc. Bio metric card also will need an amendment.

Thanks for your time
