trainee software tester role

Post by slim » Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:06 am

Hi,
I need advise on how to get into software testing, I am studying for my Iseb foundation exams at the moment. Here are my questions:

1. Can i get a trainee position without no IT experience whatsoever? (always been in customer services)
2. Are there companies that will allow me to do voluntary work?
3. Are there agencies that I could register with despite my lack of experience?
4. How do i get started?

Please your advise is greatly appreciated.

ND : How did u get into customer service ?

2. Are there companies that will allow me to do voluntary work?

ND : Did any company hire you for your first customer service job ?

3. Are there agencies that I could register with despite my lack of experience?

ND : Did any agency help you with your first customer service job ? or Did you apply direct ?

4. How do i get started?

ND : Same way as you got started for your first Customer Service job .

Tips : Use google , research , you brian , think & plan . All the answers were in your questions or my questions .

Sorry I am not trying to be rude here but rather I want you to go back read your questions & my questions and see if you know the answers already.

All the best.

I suggest you do a search on the web for Beta testing which will give you a bit of real life experience in testing - if you're doing your ISEB cert you will know what I'm talking about.

Although a lot of companies ask for ISEB certification I'm not entirely sure if it's helpful in the real world as it doesn't give you any experience. I have seen quite a high proportion of people get into testing through working in the business area of large companies where they develop their own software - so this is often a good route.

Would you like to send me your CV (I work as a contract test manager) and I'll have a look at it for you to see if I can come up with a few ideas to help.

Where are you located?

hello slim,
I am not sure from what country you are but if you are from India the my suggestion wouild be better try there. The IT market is very hot there now. salary level is very good and you can save a ton there.
