Extend ICT Tier 2 Short term visa to ICT Tier 2 Long term

Hi All,

Initially my company offered me ICT Tier 2 Short term visa which is valid for 1 year (Visa valid till Sept 2015). Now I would like to extend my ICT Tier 2 Short term visa to ICT Tier 2 Long term visa ( 3 years or more than 3 years).

Just want to understand is there anyway I can extend my visa from UK without visiting to my home country. Appreciate your support on this.

Visa valid : Sept 2014 to Sept 15

You can only change from Tier 2 ICT ST to ICT LT from your home country with a new CoS from your present employer and also you'll need £41600 annual salary.

My employer is okay to travel to home country and process ICT Long term term within couple of weeks, but my company immigration team says that I needs to serve 3 months cooling off period in home country to initiate ICT Long term, Is it mandatory to have 3 months cooling off period. Is there anyway that I can process my document when I am in UK and go to home country just for stamping and come back. Appreciate your support on this.

There is no cooling off of 3 months required for ICT ST to ICT LT. However, you cannot initiate the processing while you are here in UK since you need to submit your passport along with the application.

( I agree with moonlight55, there is no cooling off period, your company needs to change the immigration team if they are giving you such poor advise, as moonlight55 said apply for appointment before visiting ur home country and once you land there, attend the interview and wait 2-3 weeks * for visa confirmation and come back to UK)

Thanks for sharing the details. I am getting same response (cooling off period for 1 year ) from my immigration team to extend my visa from ICT-Short-term to Long term visa. Could you please give me more information on this or any link supported by Gov.uk, so that I can share with my immegration team.

Also please let me know if you are already able to process your visa from ICT Short-term to ICT Long term visa.

Thank you so much for sharing the details. It is really helpful.

Sorry I am looking for all the possibilities to continue working in UK. I have one more question here, My wife (ICT Tier 2 short-term staff dependent) is currently working in UK and visa valid till September 2015.

We would like to check with my wife's organization if they can sponsor visa for her, if they are ready to sponsor Visa does she need to visit the home country to switch from "ICT Tier 2 short-term staff partner" to other visa's. Also help to understand what all the visa's she can switch from ICT Tier 2 short-term staff dependent, so that we will discuss with her organization accordingly. Appreciate your support on this.
