Switching Employers and Tier 2 visa duration

Hi guys,

I am currently on my first Tier 2 visa and it will expire in 1.5 years.
If I switch employer now,
will UKBA transfer the 1.5 years left on my current Tier 2 visa to the new one?
or would they issue me with a fresh 3 year visa.
In which case after 4.5 years I will need to make a third Tier 2 visa application in order to have the five years stay needed for ILR.
Is this line of thought correct?

no, your remaining leave will not be transferred, you'll get a new leave the length of which will be the period of engagement in the new job as stated in the new CoS or 6 years from your initial leave, whichever comes sooner.
