Spouse visa

Post by Henry75 » Sun Apr 19, 2015 3:02 pm

Hi,I need some advise. Am married with two children to a British citizen, both myself and my wife are working but am living here in the U.K on a spouse visa issued on the 28/5/2013 and expires on 28/2/2016. What will I need to do in order to renew it,what will I need to have for the process of renewal, how long does it take and when do I need to renew it before expiration date? Hope some one will kindly help me with some genuine advise on the subject. Thank you

No earlier than 28 days before expiry of your current visa you will need to apply for a further 2.5 year extension on form FLR(M). You will also have to pay the new NHS Surcharge before submitting your application, which will be £500 in addition to the visa fee, currently £649 for a postal application or an additional £400 if applied for in person at one of the Premium Service Centres.
Here's a link to the guidance notes, but post again if you have any queries once you've read through them.

Edit: I've added to this post to say that as your current visa was issued for a 33 month period, you will be able to apply for the FLR(M) extension 28 days before completing 2.5 years residence in the UK.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
